The relationship is where the money is

The goal of your company, your business is not just to make transactions (sales).

The goal of your business should be to build an ongoing relationship with your customers — to turn customers into clients. You want long-term clients, not one-time customers.

You want ongoing relationships with loyal clients, not a series of impersonal transactions with customers you don’t know and who don’t know you.  Salesmen pound the pavement and make cold calls to get transactions. Marketers aim for nurturing a relationship with their first-time buyers so that customers will become loyal clients and repeat buyers for the rest of their lives.

Marketers understand that where there is a relationship, there is no competition . . .
